Figs fruit are natural laxative for constipation. Fig leaves when dried emit a nice dusky smell & can be brewed as tea. It is good to treat diabetes and lower blood sugar level. Fresh leaves can be used to wrap seafood and meat to give it a nice smoky smell.



Figs can be planted in pot & loves hot sun. Allow soil to dry out completely but not until leaves looks wilted before the next watering. Too much watering will affect the quality of the fruit.

Asparagus

Asparagus can be planted from seeds, however you will not be able to harvest until the plant is about 2 years old. That is when the shoots will get thicker.

Asparagus are expensive and at times the store bought ones texture are fibrous because it has been kept for some time. Planting your own asparagus make sense, you will get the freshest produced from your own garden.

For asparagus to trive, you will need wider pots rather than deep pots.

Have you ever eaten shiso leaves that come with sashimi at Japanese restaurant? Ready to eat leaves are sold in well supplied japanese supermarkets such as Isetan at premium prices. I personally like the mild herbaceous and minty taste of the leaves.

Good to add it to your salad or as food wrapping (cheese,meat,salmon,etc). Shiso is believe to boost immune system and has flu prevention properties.



Shiso can grow well in Malaysia, It is a hardy plant that just need watering (once or twice a day), morning sun and minimal fertilising (1/2 teaspoon of organic leafy fertiliser once a month) . I have both Green & Red Shiso for sale.
